Alumna in Action: Kosovo’s Mental Health Month
Psychological Services Program in Schools, established by Blerta Sulhasi, a
Hope Fellow from the Health and Social Welfare group, initiated an awareness
raising campaign on the importance of mental health in Kosovo this past May.
The campaign aimed for greater public awareness concerning mental health
issues. The campaign focused largely on educating Kosovo citizens about the misperception of mental health problems in Kosovo. By establishing the groundwork
for greater understanding and awareness of mental health, the campaign hopes to reduce the stigma around this
issue present in Kosovo today.

Psychologist Blerta Sulhasi donates psychological tool to local Gjakova school district in Kosovo, to help evaluate students' cognitive or learning abilities. This will enable educators to develop more useful teaching strategies for individual students who need support. The tool was provided by an American psychologist as a gift to support the School-based Psychological Services Program (Sulhasi's project). Psychologists and teachers will be better equipped to collaborate when supporting students with different learning needs.
